September 20th: St. John’s Episcopal Church potluck picnic, Sunday, Sept. 20th, 2026 at Camp Grier, Old Fort. The worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Grier, Old Fort in the Camp Grier Pavilion followed by a potluck lunch, play, and relaxation. The lake will be open for kayaking, canoeing and swimming after the picnic. Metal chairs are available in the pavilion but you are welcome to bring a lawn chair. Bring swim clothes and towel if you would like to swim, kayak, or canoe.

Driving directions to Camp Grier, Old Fort:

·         Take 1-40 East to Old Fort.
·         Take exit 72 (the first Old Fort exit) onto US-70 (Main Street), then go for 0.9 mile.
·         Turn left on Old US-70 West, then go for 0.9 mile (towards Andrew’s Geyser).
·         Turn right onto Camp Grier Road (Camp Grier sign at entrance of Camp Grier).
·         Follow the gravel road for .7 mile; pass the lake (on your right)
·         Turn left at fork in the road and follow signs to Camp Grier Main office.
·         Park in the Camp Grier Office parking lot.
·         The pavilion will be within sight of the parking lot at the center of camp.

If handicap accessible parking is needed, you may take a left on the gravel road at the far end of the parking lot that goes to the pavilion and park beside the pavilion.

September 25th: The annual St. John’s BBQ Block Party and silent auction will be held on Friday, September 25 from 6-8 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Food is available from Carolina BBQ for $25/plate for adults, $8/plate for children (5-12). The block party will feature live entertainment. Go to givebutter.com/StJohnsBlockParty2026 for tickets. Sign-up sheets are located in the parish hall for anyone who would like to volunteer or donate.
